Portraits of the “Botswana Renegades”, from the debut exhibition of the South African photographer Frank Marshall, inspired the Summer 2016 men’s collection. Youths with a heavy metal bent informed artistic director Riccardo Tisci’s fresh take on new proportions, from sleek, elongated jackets and subtly tapered trousers to bold stripes, stars and religious iconography. Statement pieces showed Jesus on the cross with stenciled numbers (1952 salutes the year of Givenchy’s first collection), in patches or all-over print on tunics, a bomber, bermudas and denim. Classic pinstripes and work blues were reconsidered and shown alongside immaculate white, navy or black suits.
