Vintage photographs of Native American women in late 19th-century dresses inspired the spring-summer 2017 haute couture collection, designer Riccardo Tisci’s final one for Givenchy. The Victorian influence appeared in a silk chiffon dress with a red tartan print and pioneer pleats at the neck, cuffs and hem; similar looks came in blue or fuchsia plaid. Lace, macramé, fringe, fur and feathers combined to dramatic effect. Organza-veiled metal rings composed one dress; other looks included a tulle dress embellished with organza tubes and macramé fringe. For the finale, there was a nude illusion tulle gown lavishly embroidered with soft pink feathers.
