GIVENCHY FALL 2024 PRE-COLLECTION

GIVENCHY PRESENTS ITS FALL 2024 WOMEN'S & MEN’S READY-TO-WEAR PRE-COLLECTION

THE NEW LINEUP BRINGS THE HOUSE'S NEW ELEGANCE TOGETHER WITH EASE OF DRESSING.

With its Pre-Fall 2024 collection, Givenchy continues to build on a philosophy of fluidity and ease of dressing while further exploring ideas of new formality as seen on the runway. With this collection, House expands on ideas gleaned from Hubert de Givenchy's later collections, reworking them through a contemporary lens.

Two currents define the women's wardrobe. On one hand, languid, masculine volumes are reconsidered with a plunging neckline; on the other, tailoring propositions are waisted with slightly shrunken proportions. Miniskirts give power dressing a modern spin. Cocoon coats in double-face cotton echo those seen on the runway. Likewise, the iconic Givenchy trench is reconsidered with couture volumes in back. A touch of archival elegance also infuses wardrobe essentials like blouses and trouser suits.

Flamboyant touches include jewel-like 4G buttons on both tailoring and flou. Hot pink and orange bring fresh energy to a predominantly neutral palette. Lightness comes through plays of transparency and archival polka dot motifs. For evening, the Little Black Dress rules: a double-draped back creates an element of surprise, while delicately ruched silk chiffon emphasizes seduction with a dash of mystery. New this season is a graphic lace signature, paneled together with point d’esprit tulle on evening dresses and knitwear.

Men's daywear and eveningwear reflect the innate elegance of the House's founder and the House's new formality. Floral graphics, reflecting Hubert de Givenchy's love of gardens, unexpected colors and revisited classics comprise a throughline while nods to various subcultures inject looks with tension and modernity, for example on a white tuxedo or a black and gold leather perfecto.

Givenchy codes and savoir-faire are apparent through technical fabric developments and hand-embroidery. Wool suiting fabric is treated with resin to make it wind- and waterproof; hand-applied flowers embellish machine-embroidered tulle. The key men's accessory of the season is the Voyou crossbody in hand aged leather, and supple suede embossed versions.

Women's statement accessories include the Voyou bag for women, now expanded to chain, clutch and tote variations with an elegant sensibility, as well as evening propositions in mirrored croc-embossed leather, tortoiseshell and whimsical feather.

As a counterpoint, the Antigona family welcomes the Antigona Cube: a new silhouette exploring an origami-type shape. In a fresh fusion, a boot hybrid of the Shark Lock and Voyou, is embellished with oversized buckles. Spazzolato or metallic pumps and ballerina slingbacks adorned with Voyou buckles complete the silhouettes.

Men's footwear offers several new developments. The Nfnty 52, a vintage shape with lightweight, highly resistant Pebax sole, further establishes Givenchy's status as an innovation pioneer in the luxury industry. In another first, Givenchy has partnered with Bogs, the Portland, Oregon-based maker of vulcanized, waterproof shoes: a unique Chelsea slip-on boot or lace-up trail boots are adorned with Givenchy signatures and come fitted with a 4G sock liner in technical neoprene. Both styles are available in black or beige.

Pearls - a Givenchy legacy - return in sophisticated resin iterations for both women and men, by turns caught and caged in delicate chain mesh or adorning a chunky Lock necklace in blackened metal. Other House codes include an archival bird motif rendered as a gold-tone torque, pendant, earrings or ring; the neo-classic Lock leather bracelet returns in navy, celadon or light pink. Expanding on signatures established by Matthew M. Williams, Giv Cut chains with stylized G-shaped links appear as necklaces, a bracelet, ring or an ear cuff.

Last but not least, several eyewear styles expand on the Givenchy aesthetic, from the universal Giv-Cut in injected and metal versions to 4G Liquid butterfly frames in acetate accented with aqua green or coral enamel. For men, a dedicated line called GV One gives rectangular and square frames a fresh slant, while the classic aviator style takes a new spin with GV Speed. The 4Gem mask shape makes a statement through discreet branding, while the GV Day glasses in bio-acetate and bio lenses (oval, square, cat-eye) respond to the need for greater sustainability in fashion.

While firmly rooted in the House's vocabulary, the Pre-Fall 2024 collection exudes modern elegance and confidence, the building blocks of an iconic, contemporary Givenchy wardrobe.

The Givenchy pre-collection will be available online and in-store in early June.
